Prospect level resource and reserve assessment allow user to plot the distribution for every input parameter to test just how realistic the input range is.

Prospect level resource and reserve assessment is designed in such a way that the user must input and test a realistic range of critical factors (porosity, area, rock volume, water saturation, etc.) that are critical to determining a realistic range of resource / reserves.

It provides multiple probability distributions, including normal distribution, lognormal distribution, triangle distribution, uniform distribution, parameters including Mean/Std Dev, P10/P90, P50/P10, and P50/P90 input modes.

ProRes provides a probabilistic process which leads the user thru a series of steps that if followed will provide a disciplined realistic assessment of geologic resources, commercial reserves, and ultimately expected value.

As a starting point a field size distribution chart should be constructed using all available data from available databases

Companies typically use plotting utilities to generate lognormal field size distribution charts and creaming curves for the entire basin history and for the most recent 10 years

Lognormal Field Size Distribution (FSD) curves to determine the known P90, P50, Mean, and P10 field sizes for a basin or play of interest.

Data used to construct the lognormal field size distribution chart can also be used to generate a basin creaming curve which shows cumulative reserve growth over time.

Combining the scenarios and data of Production Builder and Cost Builder with PIMAS economic evaluation functions to achieve economic evaluation and then further calculate MEFS;

Combining the MEFS calculation results and the FSD Chart, automatically calculate and generate the revised FSD Chart and related probability after the MEFS truncation.

Geologic chance of success is the likelihood of making a discovery that falls somewhere on the field size distribution chart irrespective of whether it is above or below the economic threshold.
